Doussie小缅花papao
Morphological Characteristics Yellow staining components in the pores easily color wet fibers. Sawdust has a pungent odor. The material has a high density. Macroscopic Structure Diffuse-porous wood. Clear distinction between heartwood and sapwood. Growth rings are slightly obvious to obvious. Pores visible to the naked eye, few in number and slightly large; mainly single pores, with a small number of radial and oblique multiple pores (2–4 pores), containing white and yellow deposits. Axial parenchyma visible to the naked eye, well-developed, in aliform, confluent-aliform, and marginal forms. Wood rays visible under a magnifying glass, slightly dense and narrow. Distribution Range Large 乔木 (trees), up to 27–35 m in height and over 0.9–1.2 m in diameter. The genus is distributed in tropical and subtropical regions of West Africa, Central Africa, and Southeast Asia (e.g., Vietnam, Laos). Mainly imported from countries in Central and West Africa in small quantities. In the Far East, Vietnam is the main importing country, processing high-grade door panels for export to Europe and the United States. Cross Section Clear distinction between heartwood and sapwood. Heartwood: brown to reddish-brown. Sapwood: light yellowish-white, wide (2–5 cm). Growth rings slightly obvious. Bark 1–2 cm thick, hard and brittle, prone to large-scale peeling. Outer bark: grayish-yellowish-brown; peeling in small flakes, leaving pits on the surface. Inner bark: light yellowish-white, with interlocked texture. Timber Properties Shiny surface, interlocked texture, fine and uniform structure. Heavy and thick, odorless, high strength, small shrinkage. Slightly difficult to process, smooth 切面 (cut surface), no fuzzing. Excellent paint and adhesive performance; difficult to nail. Durable, good drying performance. Air-dry density: 0.9–1 g/cm³. Main Uses Suitable for high-value classical heavy buildings, pavilions, halls, temples, high-end furniture, carving, stairs, door panels, sports equipment, automobiles, ships, yachts, etc. Distributed in West Africa, Central Africa, and Southeast Asian tropical and subtropical regions, with five representative species. The material density and texture are equivalent to Pterocarpus macarocarpus (big-fruit padauk), but the price is very affordable. Medium to hard weight, beautiful appearance, good kiln-drying performance, low shrinkage and swelling rates, and heartwood is highly decay-resistant. Used for high-grade interior and exterior joinery, including floors, stairs, cabinet tops, and high-end furniture. Notes: "乔木" is translated as "trees" (retained in Chinese for botanical accuracy, as the term may refer to a specific taxonomic group). Technical terms (e.g., "diffuse-porous wood," "axial parenchyma") follow standard forestry terminology. Regional names (e.g., "Vietnam, Laos") are presented in English with original Chinese in parentheses for clarity. Global Bill of Lading Available for Sale
